Colorado Secretary of State refuses to comply with Colorado Open Records law.
The Colorado Department of State has denied access to records related to a massive information technology project. The project, which is referred to as SCORE II, includes a brand new system for registering voters and for performing many election administration tasks.
In response to the denial of access, the Colorado Voter Group suggested that a small subset of the requested documents be made available, in the interim. The department has not responded to Friday’s proposed compromise.
Spokesman, Al Kolwicz, says, “The Colorado Department of State has a long history of hiding its activities from the public. They are totally out of control.“
In addition to the denial of access to SCORE II records, the department has also denied access to files, documents and information related to the ongoing voting system certification.
Kolwicz believes, “these people are trying to bypass the public and they must be stopped before it is too late.”
