Subject: Californai decertifies HART DREs
Ms. Hall,
As you know, California last night decided to lead the nation by decertifying DRE voting equipment http://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/elections_vsr.htm
In doing so, Secretary of State Bowen selected a path that we agree with – decertify the equipment and then permit limited and highly monitored use of the equipment.
We believe that Boulder County should immediately work with the Colorado Department of State to decertify HART DRE voting equipment, and then develop a plan, similar to that which we have described, that will limit the uncertainty associated with the use of HART DREs.
We also suggest that Boulder County reconsider its decision to exercise the voting equipment purchase option.
